Official Cataclysm Release Date Set By Blizzard!!

Dateline 10-07-10:

It’s official for all those of us who have been left in the dark wondering when we would get to finally travel the lands of Azeroth after the Cataclysm; Blizzard has finally given us a release date. That date is 12-07-10. As released directly by the developers in the latest edition of Blizzard Insider.

The long wait is almost over and for those that have not had a chance to see the changes first hand; I think you will be pleasantly surprised. With complete remodeling to many of the old world zones and new zones to journey through, there is plenty to keep you busy for a while. There are several new dungeons that will test your skills, new armor ratings and a complete rework of the talent trees for every class.

We are all going to have to learn how to really play our characters as the changes to the talent trees and the removal of many attributes that we are used to our armor having are going to make everyone work harder to stay alive. I personally am looking forward to the challenge.

Whether you are Alliance or Horde the changes will make game play far more enjoyable for all. Remember to gear up, stockpile gold and crafting materials as you are sure to need them when you get to the new zones. Release are scheduled for Midnight all across the country, if you have not reserved your copy of Cataclysm yet, what are you waiting for?  See you all on the 7th!!!

A Short Guide to Cataclysm Beta Patch 15, Build 12857 Codename Ninja

The long awaited Cataclysm Beta Patch 12857 codename Ninja was finally released on Tuesday and for most of us who have access to the Beta it meant several hours of downtime. As usual the fine folks at Blizzard gave us no idea how long we were going to have to wait, but when the servers finally did come back up the wait was well worth it. This article covers all of the changes that have been implemented to date, some are from previous patches, but this is where thing stand as of this moment.

Dungeons

This patch has brought with it many of the major changes we have been waiting for, most notably the level cap has finally been raised all the way to 85, now we can all race to see who can hit 85 the fastest or not as not all of the content has yet been deployed. More than this though you will now find that several areas are now ready for testing and all of the 5 man dungeons are now online and ready to be tested.

Among these dungeons are:

  • The Vortex Pinnacle for levels 81-858
  • Grim Batol for levels 84-85
  • Halls of Origination for levels 84-85
  • Lost City of the Tol’vir for levels 84-85

While all of the dungeons are ready for testing you have to remember that not all of the loot may drop as changes are ongoing. Also you no longer need to have found the pre Cataclysm dungeons in order to use the Looking for Dungeon system, but you must discover all of the new dungeons in Cataclysm before you can unlock them in the LDS. Hero Points have been renamed as Justice Points just to keep everyone confused. … Continue Reading

Looking at Cataclysm through Mage Colored Glasses

With the Beta in full swing and rumors floating around the Internet regarding what is happening to each class I thought that I would take you through a look at what has been seen as far as changes to the Mage class. We all know that Blizzard is making some pretty major changes to every class in the game and this week I thought maybe you would like a little insight as to what I have seen happening to the Mage so far. Remember this is still Beta information and the final results may vary.

Any way you slice it, from an Ice Lance that has been beefed up to more stamina than ever, the lowly Mage that has been so heavily nerfed for so long is finally going to get some of his mojo back. Changes in both spells that you have and new ones as well as major modifications in the talent trees will account for much of this new found power, the rest of it will be in learning how to play with all the changes that are being seen.

To start with Mages will be getting a total of three new spells in Cataclysm, which while it may not seem like many, when you combine them with the changes to the talent tree and the gear stats, are more than ample. I was watching someone play their level 81 mage in the Beta and they definitely had some serious killing power.

Here is a look at the three new spells you will be getting in Cataclysm, however remember this information is Beta only and may change by the release date: … Continue Reading
