Possible Cataclysm Collectors Edition Pet?

Possible Collectors Edition Pet to Come?

First and foremost I want to say that this post has NOT been confirmed and is simply a fellow player and pet collector expressing her thoughts and ideas, so with that in mind, enjoy!

With the coming of Patch 3.2.2 Blizzard showed us vanity pets that were amazingly cute and are a MUST on my collection list, but it has not been revealed yet on how they can be obtained.  There are a few that I know so I will list all available information (some images aren’t available yet):

  • Lil’K.T.
  • Gryphon Hatchling
  • Core Hound Pup
  • Wind Rider Cub
  • Zipao Tiger
  • Spectral Tiger Cub (Loot Card from the new WoW TCG: ScrougeWar – release dates have been stated as Nov. 24, 2009 and Dec. 17, 09 – not sure which is true)
  • Tuskarr Kite (Loot Card from the new WoW TCG: ScrougeWar – release dates have been stated as Nov. 24, 2009 and Dec. 17, 09 – not sure which is true)
  • Onyxia Whelpling (Upcoming reward for Blizzards 5th Year Anniversary)
  • Plump Turkey (Upcoming Achievement reward for Pilgrim Week this year)
  • Pandaren Monk

Now there is one pet on the list that should instantly grab your interest (other than the Spectral Tiger), the Pandaren Monk.  Pandarens are whispers and one of the most elusive races in the World of Warcraft, the fact that Blizzard is letting us have one as a vanity pet fills this Hunter with a lot of thoughts.  Anyway, what grabs my attention to this vanity pet other than it’s name – is what kind of vanity pet it’s said to be – Bind on Account (BoA).  For all of those out there who were not able to get their hands on a Collectors Edition of  Original, The Burning Crusade, or The Wrath of the Lich King World of Warcraft games, BoA vanity pets have been shown to ONLY exist in the Collectors Editions.  Previous BoA vanity pets were quest item related, a gifted wrapped package in your in game mailbox, that would let you turn it in to your race’s starting area to choose from one of the three pets available – or they were simply mailed to your mailbox.

The above post from warcraftpets.com raises a good idea and confirms my own thoughts about what I think the Pandaren Monk means to the future.  True that it would make sense that it MIGHT have been a pet for Brewfest since Pandarens are known for thier Brewmasters, who we oddly enough catch whispers of, with a quest in Rachet called “Chen’s Empty Keg”.  Brewfest is upon is but I haven’t seen this littley guy running around but as a previous post stated, it’s been extended, though I’m not sure if it WILL be obtainable.

Now what’s so cool about this pet is his voice and animations.  This little guy, as shown in the video above, makes classic  ‘kung fu’ movie noises as well as poses/moves!  I think he’s really adorable though I am a little disappointed about his model – does it look familiar to any of you?  Tuskarr.  Yes it looks a bit, well a lot, like a Tuskarr – not when he’s in a ‘pose’ but more when he’s just standing there.  Either way, Pandaren Monk is adorable and it seems like he MIGHT just be a BoA vanity pet like Panda Cub, Mini Diablo, Zergling, Netherwhelp, Lurky (for EU servers only), and Frosty.

So, those are my thoughts, what about you guys?

On a side note – if you want a post about the history of those elusive Pandarens, let me know about that too – who knows when we’ll see them, or even if we will – but if the Pandaren Monk is to be for Cataclysm….the REAL question is…why?

Happy Hunting!

Vanity Pet Collectors Be Warned!

Vanity Pet Collectors – Consider Collecting!

As an avid collector of vanity pets, mounts, and all other things fluffy in World of Warcraft – it has come to my attention that with the introduction of  World of Warcraft: Cataclysm – that while a drastic change will be happening to Azeroth there MIGHT also be a drastic change to mob dropped vanity pets!

Warcraftpets.com had this to say in a post:

warcraftpets quote

I have scoured the internet, read sites, talked with guild members – everything – and as stated in the post, no confirmation that old world mobs dropping pets will be destroyed with the new expansion hits or if Blizzard is even considering this.  Then again, there hasn’t been information to deny it either.

With that in mind I began farming the pets that I had been lax in doing just in case by chance those mobs disappear when Azeroth is reshaped by Deathwing’s arrival.   I thought it would valuable for those who enjoy all sorts of little critters following them on their adventures to have a list of what this Huntress thinks MIGHT disappear:

  • Azure Whelpling
  • Black Tabby
  • Crimson Whelpling
  • Dark Whelpling
  • Darting Hatchling
  • Disgusting Oozeling
  • Emerald Whelpling
  • Gundrak Hatchling
  • Hyacinth Macaw
  • Leaping Hatchling
  • Ravasaur Hatchling
  • Sprite Darter
  • Westfall Chicken

As stated that is just my own thoughts on the matter and of course there are pets from old world quests : Worg Pup and Smolderweb Hatchling, but I’m not sure if Azeroth quests with pets as a reward will be affected since those involve instances.  IF instances were to be involved then that adds so many more pets to the list, not to mention if events that take place in Azeroth  like Childrens Week, Darkmoon Faire, and Midsummer Festival were to be ‘destroyed’.

In one of our previous posts by Nubun talking about how Outland might be untouched by the expansion (though not confirmed), I went a head and began farming the pets that could be found there, both from mobs and quest rewards:

  • Captured Firefly
  • Magical Crawdad
  • Chuck
  • Muckbreath
  • Snarly
  • Toothy
  • Miniwing

Most of the pets on both lists (not the quest rewards) can be found on your local Auction House and depending on your servers market you could probably get them for a decent price.  If Blizzard does confirm at a later date that certain vanity pets will disappear then you can bet all the gold in your guilds bank that prices for those pets will sky rocket!

Either way a collector can speculate and wonder all they like but this Tauren (until Blizzard confirms otherwise) has set her sights to farming for those few pets in her collection that she’s missing, on the rare chance that  Deathwing has more in his sights than changing the physical aspect of Azeroth we grew up in but to include the denizens themselves.

Happy Hunting!

Ironforge……

There’s speculation going around that Deathwing may be on a direct path into Ironforge.

At Blizzcon, Morhaime made a comment about how “The Iron should look familiar…”

What would become of the Gnomes and Dwarves if Ironforge met it’s demise during the Cataclysm?

Where will the Gnomeregan exiles turn then??

Would love to see/hear any comments relating to this.
