Cairne Bloodhoof and Patch 3.3
When there was the Cataclysm leak about Cairne Bloodhoof being “implicated as a traitor to the Horde and murdered by Garrosh Hellscream”(MMO’s post) I was completely shattered. I have played the Horde for years as well as being a Tauren for all of those years and to know that my racial leader was going to die….just shattered.
As seen in the above post from MMO it seems that Cairne’s leaving will be happening, if it will happen IN 3.3 or AFTER isn’t completely known, but the fact that the Tauren’s leader will be replaced with his son – Baine Bloodhoof – is confirmed. What disturbs me the most is that Cairne Bloodhoof is a hero, not quite on the scale as Thrall, but high up there – if not right under Thrall – and it seems they are going to destroy Cairne and his reputation.
The history of the beloved Tauren Grand Ghief is rather interesting and amazing. Taurens wandered the plains being slaughtered by the centaurs until Thrall entered the scene. He saved the Taurens while looking for an Oracle and since Cairne knew the location, he agreed to help Thrall with the location, if Thrall agreed to escort the remaining Tauren to the plains of Mulgore. When they reached the agreed upon place Cairne told Thrall of the location, Stonetalon Mountains, and in a turn of events Cairne offered his personal services in helping Thrall. So Thrall and Cairne fought side by side to defeat The Legion to get to the Orcale Thrall sought and rescued Grom Hellscream – forging a powerful alliance of Orc and Tauren.
There is more history, ups and downs involving Cairne – like his sone Baine being captured by Centaurs and then being returned, but through it all he was an amazing leader. A qoute from the World of Warcraft Manual that just reinforces how devestating it’s going to be to see Cairne as a traitor (IF blizzard confirms that part of his replacement to be true):
“ Carine is dedicated to serving his people and to watching over their safety in an ever-darkening world. An outstanding warrior, Cairne is considered one of the most dangerous creatures alive. Despite his strength and valor, he is a gentle soul who longs only for the peace and tranquility of the open plains. It is rumored that if he could lay the responsibilities of chieftain on another, Cairne would leave Thunder Bluff in an instant and retire to the wilds. Many believe that he is training his son, Baine, to take his place as chieftain one fateful day”.
One last thing to think about fellow readers, players, and Tauren:
Food for thought (and feel free to share!), if Cairne is to be a traitor to the Horde, why would he rescue babies?
Happy Hunting!

Id bet it appears he was killed but isn’t. Both he and Thrall I’d assume are imprisoned elsewhere.
Weird stuff is going in the Horde side. Everyone group but Tauren and Orcs seem to be not welcome in Orgrimmar.
I guess, Garrosh will claim the crown and throw Thrall way from Orgrimmar by declaring traitors who help or side with Thrall. Fo which Cairne will be declared as a traitor too.
As a matter of fact, it’s been confirmed that Cairne will die.
Thrall gives Garrosh the title of Warchief, because he has to go bring balance to the elements, and because he thinks Garrosh is the hero that the horde needs right now.
After he is made Warchief, he’ll insult Cairne or something, causing Cairne to challenge Garrosh to an honorable duel, which Garrosh wins, wounding Cairne, but not killing him.
Then, for some strange reason, Cairne dies, and in belief that he has killed Cairne, and in fear of a rebellion, Garrosh flees from Mulgore.
However, it turns out that Cairne was poisoned by the Grimtotems (Grimtotems are the “bad” taurens, wanting world-domination, and they believe that only Grimtotems are worthy of ruling).
The Grimtotems will take controll of Thunder Bluff, and Garrosh, Baine and players will fight their way into the city and retake it (much like the battle for the undercity).
**this part is a theory**
Since blizzard has done alot of work to make Garrosh change throughout the expansion, to eventually become a pretty nice warchief, I believe this is one of the first steps in that direction.
This is sad, even for me (as a alliance) cuz I deeply respect the tauren! Garrosh doesn’t deserve to be the warchief. He needs to respect his people.
