Cataclysm: Deathwing vs. Alextrasza Fight Sound Files and Character Select Screens

Two new character select screens have been released for Troll and Gnomes!  I actually like them both and I’m glad to see that races aren’t sharing character select screen backgrounds since Trolls shared with Orcs while Gnomes shared with Dwarves.

Next up, thanks to Ralth via MMO-Champion,  are the sound files to a fight I want to SEE so badly in either CGI goodness or an in game ‘movie’.  This contains spoilers so if you do not want to hear it or read it – you’ve been warned!

Alexstrasza and Deathwing Fight Dialogue
VO_QE_TH_Alexstrasza_Event01.ogg “Mortal, I want you to bear witness to this, but for your own safety, Stay back! Calen, you too”
VO_QE_Calen_Event01.ogg “I will not leave your side.”
VO_QE_TH_Alexstrasza_Event02.ogg “Your life isn’t yours to throw away Calen, should I fail, the fate of this world may rest on your shoulders.”
VO_QE_Calen_Event02.ogg “Yes mother.”

*Alexstrasza goes to Deathwing*
VO_QE_Deathwing_Event01.wav “Lifebinder. Do you presume that I am at your beck and call? I have a world to unmake.”
VO_QE_TH_Alexstrasza_Event03.ogg “It pains me Neltharion, but I must end you, as i have ended Malygos!”
VO_QE_Deathwing_Event02.wav “Ha ha ha ha. End? Me? Lifebinder. You think life is yours to take away? Life is weak. Mortal. Fleeting. Fragile. Death is final. Death is eternal. Death is my realm. Look upon me, and you see death incarnate. The unmaker… of worlds.”
VO_QE_TH_Alexstrasza_Event04.ogg “I see the hallow metal shell of a once great ally and the precious gift of the titans wasted.”
VO_QE_Deathwing_Event03.wav “Then witness my new gifts! Bestowed by this worlds TRUE MASTERS.”
VO_QE_TH_Alexstrasza_Event05.ogg “Neltharion, look at yourself, misshapen, twisted, you are coming apart.”
VO_QE_Deathwing_Event04.wav “Just as all life ends in death, all order must end in chaos! Come! Embrace the inevitable… as I have!

*Alexstrasza and Deathwing fight*
VO_QE_Calen_Event03.ogg “Don’t let them out of sight, quickly, come with me!”
VO_QE_Calen_Event04.ogg “There, they’ve fallen.”
VO_QE_TH_Alexstrasza_Event06.ogg “The earth-warder.. he is dead..”
VO_QE_Calen_Event05.ogg “Mother, stay still, your wounds are great.”
VO_QE_TH_Alexstrasza_Event07.ogg “The Black Aspect’s blood is cursed, wherever it was shed, nothing will grow for 10000 years *groan*, but is it over, we can work now to bottle up the horrors he has unleashed.”
VO_QE_TH_Alexstrasza_Event08.ogg “Impossible!”
VO_QE_Calen_Event06.ogg “Deathwing, he lives…… Deathwing…. he lives?”
VO_QE_Deathwing_Event05.wav “The sun has set on this mortal world. Make peace with your end, for the hour of twilight falls!”
VO_QE_Calen_Event07.ogg “Mortal, take the dragon queen, take her to safety, carry her to safety, now, run, get her away from here.”
VO_QE_TH_Alexstrasza_Event09.ogg “Calen, NO!”
VO_QE_Deathwing_Event06.wav “Argh. You think to entrap me?
VO_QE_Calen_Event08.ogg “I will delay the aspect of death, take her to safety.”
VO_QE_TH_Alexstrasza_Event10.ogg “NOOOOO!”

Now I want to see this fight even more and I want it now hehe.  I really hope that with very intense dialogue what we get to see is just as intense.  Though…*thinks a moment*…I don’t remember the LifeBinders voice sounding like a very old woman?  Maybe I’m wrong, it’s been a while since I’ve done events with her in it and if that is her voice – okay – but if it’s not then I hope they change it.  I know the Dragon Aspects are beyond time but that doesn’t mean they need to sound like it.

Oh and some fun to see the new models of Ysera and others in action thanks to TotalBiscuit!

Happy Hunting!

Cataclysm: Talent Trees

With the latest Beta build, the bugs that were plaguing talent trees have been fixed, allowing players a sandbox to test new builds.  An interactive calculator can be found at WoWTal.com.

The new calculators provide a great opportunity for intense theorycrafters and the casual observer alike to see what sort of specs will be available for their characters once Cataclysm hits shelves and we all race to see the new content. … Continue Reading

Week in Review – August 7

Hello, brave adventurers.  This past week has seen many small posts here and there about lots of smaller issues either plaguing BETA, or announcements.  Chief among them are definitely the ability to shell out $39.99 and watch a live stream of Bllizzcon.  Will I shell out the cash to take part in one of gaming’s most epic annual meetings?  Probably… But rest assured that we will all give some wonderful updates about how the events, announcements and proceedings go.

Also, about Starcraft II, which if you have not picked up… please do so.  The sequel to one of the best selling PC games of all time is wonderful.  I highly recommend it.  Anyways– like SCII, Cataclysm will be available for Digital Download on day of release.  What does this mean?

Well, if you don’t mind NOT having the box, you save on gas.  And MORE power to those who want to do that, but I’m just the kind of nerd who wants the box-art, and game manual… and disc… omg… and besides, I just really enjoy standing in line with friends, coworkers, and people from the community to see who else shows up to stand in line to get a hold of a new game.

The relationships those little meetings create are often QUITE memorable– a la, someone screaming, “SNAPE KILLS MASTER CHIEF!!” at the release of Halo 3, while careening through parking lot of Gamestop.  But, it will be available none the less.

Now, on to game news; I still don’t have my BETA key… /cry.  Oh well, that’s why we have friends, because sometimes our friends are more epic than us.  As a Death Knight tank, I definitely like the changes to the class that I have seen thus far– healing mechanics have greatly changed for Cataclysm, and watching some early tests of healers at work was definitely a treat.

BETA warlocks had a surprise earlier this week when a reset was done of all combat pets to fix a code error.  This simply meant that all of their pets’ names changed– but Hunters in BETA had to re-tame all of their critters.  Funny few minutes for some…  but the biggest and possibly most hilarious news from the past week can be summed up in one word:  Hogger.

That’s right, for those Vanilla fans who remember, or those who just love rolling on Durotar during patch days en masse and zerging Hogger– he’s back.  Big time!  With three quests to take your characters back into the Stormwind Stockades– players will actually get to fight the big ol’ Gnoll again.

A wing of the Stormwind Stockades has been devoted to Riverpaw Gnolls, and Hogger is leading that section of the rebellion after Deathwing’s little shaking opens all of the prison’s doors.  What is even more interesting though, is that upon completing the quest– simply ending with the instructions: “Defeat Hogger,” the one, who instructs you to do so, seems very shocked.

There is speculation that we will see Hogger again– but DO NOT get your hopes up.  Seeing Anub’ Arak in Trial of the Crusader was a treat after thinking we had so easily defeated such an important character in a 5-man dungeon– but Hogger does not exactly hold much sway in terms of lore.  Still, one can hope.  25 man Hogger… demand it, people, and Blizzard just might deliver. Just to prove that Blizzard might do it, check this out…

This is a forum post about the… non-epicness of The Maelstrom in Cataclysm:

“What I meant was, I thought Deathwing was supposed to have busted through the crust on Eastern Kingdoms. Then it turns out he came out through the Maelstrom?
I would expect the Maelstrom to be a far more epic place than it is currently, at the very least significantly larger than what it is. I mean–you have to consider it’s large enough to score its own spot on every map of Azeroth….
Not to mention…flying into the Maelstrom…really…I mean…….
*facepalm*…”

This was a post on a standard, BETA forum about Cataclysm.  Nothing really out of the ordinary– but THESE are the responses it received.

“Maybe I missed the memo on levels of “epicosity” or something, but I’m pretty sure the Maelstrom is a CLASS 10 epic zone. Though I guess it is missing sharks with laser beams patrolling the waters and Arthur Fonzarelli jumping across it with water skis. And dinosaurs.”

Later, Valnoth, a Lead World Designer for WoW, also posted this.

“After reading this post I called for a meeting with TOP TOP MEN (that’s two tops) in order to figure out a solution to the problem at hand. Frankly, I think we hit a home run. The next 4.0 build (or the one after) should have a Maelstrom that’s between 10 – 50x more epic than what currently exists.

Buckle yourselves into your computer chairs or face being blown away!”

Yeah– and here are the Sharks with “lasers” to cook their meals that Dr. Evil himself probably couldn’t have thought more beautiful a sight.http://azeroth.metblogs.com/files/2010/08/undeadonraptoronsharkwithfrickinlaserbeams.jpg

But, a ridiculous video has been uploaded by some friends over at Pwnwear.com.http://pwnwear.com/2010/08/04/commentary-on-the-blue-rewards-in-deepholm/

In this video, Gravity shows us some of the weapons and armor dropped in the dungeon of Deepholm (level 83ish) and then from the final quest from that zone after roughly 100 quests has been completed; Level 318… from that quest.

Many have been whispering in-game about how Tier 10 will be replaced at level 81 and such, but here, we have preliminary evidence to TRULY show that Blizzard has intended that pretty much every class will have to replace all of their gear before level 84.  This may seem VERY annoying and very unfortunate for some– but I see the need in a way.  An expansion is like hitting the reset button for MMOs, and if you were around for the release of The Burning Crusade, then you probably remember people trying and really failing at fighting Morose with full Tier 3.

It just did not work.  Similarly, some guilds actually kept Tier 6 around until level 80– the set bonuses still scaled pretty well at the time– but they soon found that to not be the best of handling Tier 7 either.  So, it truly appears that the changes coming in Cataclysm will be retroactive to all gear, yes, but the gear itemized for Cataclysm in the new 80-85 zones, quests, and dungeons, will be a huge upgrade from all Level 80 gear, including Tier 10.

Take that as you will, but I see replacing my epics with greens as a string of hilarious moments; moments that make me laugh and tear up a little, knowing that those shoulders that I fought so hard to get, are now gone.  I can keep them, and always try to remember what went in to getting them– but they are obsolete now.  Change with the times– nothing teaches you that quicker than WoW sometimes.  Cheers.
